In May of 2000, I received a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans, Louisiana and immediately began working as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Memorial Medical Center Baptist Campus. After moving to Katy, Texas, I continued to work as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at West Houston Medical Center. For more that 7 years at West Houston Medical Center, I functioned in the role of staff and charge nurse; I became a Certified Preceptor; and achieved the National Certification Corporation's Certificate of Inpatient Obstetrics. After working as a Labor and Delivery Nurse/Charge Nurse for 6 years, I began my education to become a Woman's Health Nurse Practitioner at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. In June of 2009, I received a Master of Science in Nursing Degree and became a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. Believing that a multidisciplinary approach to patient care is essential to achieve the holistic healing of mind, body and spirit; lead me to achieve, a Post-Master's Certificate in Complimentary and Integrative Therapies at Drexel University. Shortly after graduation I became Board Certified as a Woman's Health Nurse Practitioner by the Nation Certification Corporation.

Having knowledge and experience in the field of Women's Health from the obstetric perspective, made the decision to further my education and because a Woman's Health Nurse Practitioner a natural choice. My beliefs in empowering patients with knowledge, establishing trust provider-patient relationships, and listening to patients with an empathetic and open mind have been fulfilled in my role as Nurse Practitioner. Although I miss the excitement and emotions of the delivery room, the relationships that are developed over many office visits, is my role as Nurse Practitioner cannot be replaced. Assisting woman through the many phases of the life cycle, from adolescence to menopause, with a knowledge-based, holistic approach is a rewarding opportunity.

I was born at Fort Bend Hospital in Missouri City in 1989. I am the proud mother of a beautiful 2 year old son named Nathan who inspired me to go into the medical field. My original plans after high school were to go to college and study communications but being pregnant after I graduated from high school changed those plans. Having my son made me realize I needed a good career so I got my certification to be a Medical Assistant and, looking back, I wouldn't change my life now for anything in this world.

Being a young mother has been hard, but I get through it with the help of a loving fiancée and supportive friends. I still enjoy going out and having fun such as dancing, going to movies, shopping and going to the gym a few days a week to stay healthy for myself and my family.

In March 2009, I joined Dr. Amaro's office. I have enjoyed the opportunity to learn and grow with his practice and I thank him for believing in me. I look forward to helping you have a great experience at our office.

I have recently come to this practice and am excited on a daily basis to be involved in what goes on here. My desire to work in healthcare came from growing up with a sick parent, my mother was diagnosed with cancer when I was 10 years old and suffered through it for 18 years before she passed away, so I grew up around the healthcare environment. I witnessed firsthand the caregivers and physicians who made a difference in my family's life by truly sharing in the experience we were going through.

Since that time I have wanted to find a practice where I thought a difference was being made in the lives of patients and that is just what is happening here. Dr. Amaro is a compassionate man with strong faith, who truly cares about his patient's and what is going on in their lives. I am honored that he has invited me join him in his practice and look forward to making a difference in the lives of our patients.
